Since 1942 visitors have been marking their Alaska Highway passage through Watson Lake with signs from their hometown. It all started in 1942 with an Army engineer posting the sign "Danville, Illinois, 2835 miles" to mark his hometown while building the Alaska Highway. From what I can find, there's close to 50,000 signs in the forest now. The Sign Post Forest is something I wish I'd known about before my trip through Watson Lake so I could've brought a sign of my own. You can browse around and see signs from all over the world. I had to settle for posting a GoSleepGo sticker because I was unprepared... Start stealing signs from your hometown now!!!
